The Matthew Shepard Act finally passed yesterday!  Here’s House member Virgina Foxx (is thata porn star name or what?) acting a fool, claiming that Matthew Shepard’s murder, i.e. the only Wikipedia article to ever make me cry like a child, was a total hoax:

These issues are kind of difficult for me to talk about effectively because I can’t treat things seriously.  When I get upset, I make distateful jokes to deal with my anger.  While I’ve never been physically attacked, I’ve been given reason to fear for my safety on more than one occasion, and I know of several people that have gotten roughed up, if not put into the hospital, in and around Boston for being gay.  These events make you afraid, whether or not you can logickify you’re way out of it.
